One size fits all

Over the years I have watched many people that I care about go through their own personal journeys, and thanks to this blog (and twitter) I have seen many of you do the same. One of the things that I think people struggle the most with when beginning to make changes in their lives is the process of changing in itself. We can all share our memories, the way that we have done things etc and that is great, it may just be what someone needs.

I have a few words of wisdom for you all... it is YOUR journey and therefore you as an INDIVIDUAL will have your INDIVIDUAL ways of coping. Your journey is never going to be the same as anyone else's, no matter how many similarities there are, there are differences too. Please don't berate yourself just because you have followed the advice of someone and it hasn't worked out as well for you as it had for them. They haven't had the same experiences as you have and you don't think exactly the same.

" The trouble with life isn't that there is no answer, it's that there are so many answers"

- Ruth Fulton Benedict

I think it's great when you can read through other peoples tips for their recovery, or how they get over a bad day (or anything really) but just remember that you are a human being with feelings. You can take their advice on board and make it fit your needs. You will learn through trial and error (or just through what you know about yourself) as to what works for you...and then maybe you can share how you have gotten through it with the world too. We need as much positivity and support out there as possible. It helps people to realise that they are not alone in their struggles and that there is light at the end of the tunnel.

Recovery isn't a one size fits all situation. Follow your own path.
