November reading list

I'm a complete book nerd at heart so this month I gave myself a little extra money to buy some gems that have been sitting in my Amazon basket for a while. Ever since I saw the trailer for the film Miss Peregrines Home for Peculiar Children, I have been wanting to not only watch the film, but read the books behind it. Needless to say, I watched the full film and straight away jumped online and ordered all od the books in the set. Just before I clicked "Purchase", I threw another book off my wishlist in for good measure. Here is what I brought;

A mysterious islland. An abandoned orphanage. A strange collection of peculiar photographs. It all waits to be discovered in Miss Peregrine's Home for Peculiar Children, an unforgettable novel that mixes fiction and photography in a thrilling reading experience. As our story opens, a horrific family tragedy sets sixteen-year-old Jacob journeying to a remote island off the coast of Wales, where he  discovers the crumbling ruin of Miss Peregrines Home for Peculiar Children. As Jacob explores it's decaying bedrooms and hallways, it becomes clear that Miss Peregrine's children were more than just peculiar. They may have been dangerous. they may have been quarantined on a deserted Island for a good reason. And somehow- impossible though it seems- they may still be alive.

Hollow city By Ransom Riggs

Book 2 (of Miss Peregrines Home for Peculiar Children) This second novel begins in 1940, immediately after the first book ended. Having escaped Miss Peregrine's island by the skin of their teeth, Jacob and his new friends must journey to London, the peculiar capital of the world. Along the way, they encounter new allies, a menagerie of peculiar animals, and other unexpected surprises. Complete with dozens of newly discovered (and thoroughly mesmerizing) vintage photographs, this new adventure will delight readers of all ages.

The girl of ink and stars By Kiran Millwood Hargrave

The world beyond the walls is a monster-filled wasteland - and beneath the dry rivers and smoking mountains, a fire demon is stirring from its sleep.
